Do you like extra-aged bourbon? Knob Creek 18 2023 edition is a highly aged bourbon that falls right in line with some other recent releases. Whether it’s Sazerac 18 or Eagle Rare 17 from the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, King of Kentucky from Brown-Forman, or even Beam’s Hardin’s Creek series. Is this a trend you’d like to see continue? Jake’s Tasting Notes: 

Nose: this nose is not overly oaky. There is a nice cherry pie filling, with vanilla cream and some crushed peanuts over top. This pour smells like a fall dessert begging to be eaten on Thanksgiving. 

Palate: on the palate, the oak shows up! While it’s not the only note – cherry, vanilla, baking spice, and barrel tannins make for a very nice, well-rounded pour. 

Finish: a medium to long finish, with subtle wisps of cherry and vanilla.

Closing Thoughts:

The 2023 release of Knob Creek 18 is what extra aged bourbon should taste like. It gives you a shock to the palate but the nose doesn’t overwhelm you. Overall, the nose and palate work together nicely and I think this is a bottle which any Knob Creek fan should own.
