Full Details from Larrikin Bourbon Co.:

Larrikin Bourbon Co. debuted its inaugural Bottled in Bond – an 8-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey at the world-renowned Kentucky Bourbon Festival. The bonded expression underscores this veteran owned craft distillery’s somewhat maverick style.

Bottled in Bond is the first release for Larrikin Bourbon since its evolution from the Lawrenceburg label. As is customary with Larrikin bourbon, the Bottled in Bond offers richness and depth, without any disagreeable burn. With a mash bill of 75% corn, 21% rye and 4%, each batch is blended to reflect the Larrikin mission to craft extraordinary, novel whiskies.

Larrikin’s 8-year-old bonded bourbon conforms to the exacting Bottled in Bond Act of 1897. This act was enabled to ensure the authenticity and quality of aged whiskey. This requires it to be produced in a single distilling season, under the same roof, matured for at least four years in a U.S. bonded warehouse, and bottled at exactly 100 Proof (50% ABV).

“Our focus is dead simple, producing bloody good bourbon”, says Greg Keeley, Founder and Distiller at Larrikin Bourbon Co. Larrikin Bottled-in-Bond is a mix of time-honored Kentucky distilling experience with a dash of Aussie cheek, blending tradition with a whole lot of passion.”

This 8-year-old release was distilled in Bardstown in Spring 2016. After aging in charred American oak barrels, 30 casks were selected for blending, proofing and hand-bottling at Larrikin Bourbon Co. Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky.

Expect aromas of crisp fruit, granny smith apple, subtle floral tones with a barrel character of subtle oak and vanilla. A palate that is herbal, with hints of spearmint and balanced grains. Hints of sweet spice, ripe fruit and apricot meld into a soft finish.

Pricing and Availability

Larrikin Bourbon Bottled in Bond is available exclusively at Kroger stores for a limited time, or at the distillery tasting room in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. The 750ml bottles have a suggested retail price of $80.00.

About Larrikin Bourbon Co.:

From Lawrenceburg to Larrikin-our name might’ve evolved, but our mission’s still as solid as a rock. Larrikin Bourbon Co. is the true-blue embodiment of the American Dream: a veteran owned, craft distillery built from scratch by an immigrant with a fair dinkum, no-nonsense approach to producing bloody good bourbon.

Larrikin Bourbon fills a unique niche in the Bluegrass bourbon landscape. Founded by an Aussie larrikin, LBC is a veteran-distilled and veteran-owned craft distillery, at the intersection of tradition and audacity. Larrikin is building on its Lawrenceburg heritage, to continue producing award winning spirits, with innovation and a mischievous non-conformity.

Larrikin (n.): Australian slang. A person who disregards convention, a maverick.

Larrikinism was a reaction to rules imposed by British officials on the young country of Australia. Our whiskey reflects this bold spirit of good-natured irreverence, relying on character, not ceremony.

“Larrikin Bourbon Co. is the American Dream for an immigrant and U.S Navy veteran”, said Larrikin Founder and Distiller, Greg Keeley. “For me and Katie, it’s about respecting generations of distilling tradition, while adding our own touch of pluck and mettle. It’s a journey I hope will bring the larrikin spirit, exemplified by the late Steve Irwin, to the bluegrass. So, damn the torpedoes— let’s make some more bloody good bourbon.”

Katie Keeley, co-founder at Larrikin Bourbon, said, we realized when we founded the distillery, “we had forgotten a crucial lesson learned from years of overseas service. A person is defined by who you are, not where you are. And candidly, we are fair-dinkum larrikins.”
