FRANKFORT, FRANKLIN COUNTY, KY (Nov. 22, 2022) – Buffalo Trace Distillery is all decked out in its holiday finest and invites guests to enjoy the family friendly festivities in a variety of ways this holiday season Dec. 1st through Jan 1st.
Lighting of the Trace – Dec. 1st
For the first time since 2019, Buffalo Trace will hold its Lighting of the Trace event in person at the Distillery in Frankfort on Dec. 1st from 5:30-9:30 p.m. This will be the 24th year for the event, although the occasion was celebrated online only in 2020 and 2021.
The evening will kick off at 5:30 p.m. with holiday stories, carols, jolly elves, shopping and more. At 6:30 p.m. the “Lighting of the Trace” will commence with Frankfort City Commissioner Kelly May serving as emcee, and Santa and Mrs. Claus joining the festivities. Afterwards, pictures with Santa, hot chocolate and cookies will be available in the Elmer T. Lee Clubhouse until 9 p.m.
This event is complimentary to attend and open to the public. No reservations are needed.
Santa Nights – Dec. 8-9th
Get your wish list ready as Santa Claus visits Buffalo Trace on Dec. 8th and 9th from 6-8 p.m. in Giants Hall, the second floor of the Visitor Center.

Holiday Light Displays – Dec. 1st – Jan. 1st
Come see the thousands of holiday lights and festive displays in this complimentary drive-through route at the Distillery. Enjoy over 100,000 lights in various displays such as Santa, elves, reindeers, and of course, buffalos! The drive through lights are complimentary and are open nightly Dec. 1st to Jan. 1st from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (Note: the drive through route will not open on Dec. 1st until 7:30 p.m. to accommodate the Lighting of the Trace festivities.)
Buffalo Trace Distillery is located at 113 Great Buffalo Trace, in Frankfort, Ky. Visitors should enter at the main Distillery entrance next to the “Come See the Lights” display. All events are complimentary. The Distillery’s Gift Shop, located inside the Visitor Center, will be open during the Lighting of the Trace, Santa Nights, and other select nights during the holiday season with a variety of holiday and bourbon themed merchandise for gift giving.
