VERGENNES, VT (March 10, 2026) — Lost Lantern, the award-winning independent bottler of American whiskey, officially announces its Spring 2026 Collection. This curated release dives into the “High vs. Low Proof” debate, featuring a mix of powerhouse “hazmat” whiskies (140+ proof) alongside meticulously proofed, approachable spirits.
The collection marks a milestone for the Vermont-based bottler with the debut of Far-Flung Bourbon 100 Proof, the first non-cask strength flagship in its history. This 100-proof expression is released alongside its cask-strength counterpart, Far-Flung Bourbon IV, inviting enthusiasts to witness how water and proofing transform the exact same blend of seven state-sourced bourbons.
The “High-Low” Pairings
Beyond the flagship, the collection features eight single casks from across the U.S., including five new distillery partners. The releases are grouped into four “High-Low” pairings to showcase how proof influences texture, aroma, and structure:
- Single Malt Pairing: A 138.7 proof powerhouse from Boulder Spirits (CO) vs. a balanced 120.6 proof malt from Copperworks (WA).
- Mountain Bourbon Pairing: The oldest Idaho whiskey ever released (154.4 proof) via Day’s Defile vs. a soft, wheated Montana bourbon from Montgomery Distillery.
- Southern Bourbon Pairing: High-intensity Alabama heat from Dread River (141.8 proof) vs. a complex, cocoa-forward Georgia bourbon from ASW Distillery.
- Rye Pairing: Lost Lantern’s first hazmat rye from Broad Branch (NC) vs. a grassy, balanced Kentucky rye from New Riff.
From the Founders
“As the industry evolves, we’re seeing passionate camps emerge around proof,” said Nora Ganley-Roper, co-founder and Head Blender. “Some people seek intensity and power. Others prefer balance and approachability. We’re not choosing sides: we love both! Instead, we’re exploring what each proof reveals about the whiskey itself.”
“There is no perfect proof for whiskey,” added co-founder Adam Polonski. ”It depends not just on the distillery and the whiskey, but also on when and why you’re drinking it. Proof is just one part of a whiskey’s story, and this collection explores that.”
