For decades, MGP has quietly made whiskey behind some of America’s best-known brands. Now it has launched MGP, its first brand under its own name. The first release is MGP Chapter One: Out of the Shadows, a limited-edition, 10-year-old straight bourbon.
Master Distiller Ian Stirsman blended barrels aged a full decade in Rickhouse G, one of the distillery’s most celebrated warehouses. The bourbon uses MGP’s historic LBSV mash bill of 60% corn, 36% rye and 4% malted barley and is bottled at 111 proof.
The launch also brings the MGP Distillery name back to the Lawrenceburg, Indiana distillery.
Price and availability:
It debuted at the Kentucky Bourbon Festival and is rolling out in limited quantities nationwide this fall. SRP is $69.99 (750mL).
