New Riff Batch 3 Of Kentucky Single Malt Hitting Shelves

Newport, KY (April 24, 2025) – New Riff Distilling unveils its 2025 Single Malt Whiskey, a third annual release showcasing malt whiskeys aged up to 10 years. Blending Kentucky’s sour mash traditions with innovative cask maturation, this 115.2-proof expression is available May 2 at the distillery gift shop, online at newriffdistilling.com, and select retailers for $69.99.

Innovating Malt Whiskey

“Each year, we fine tune our Single Malt whiskey, flexing both our creativity and technical expertise to innovate and explore new dimensions of malt whiskey,” said Master Distiller Brian Sprance. Since 2014, New Riff has crafted Single Malt Whiskey from early distillations, aging barrels at 110 proof.

This year’s blend combines three mashbills (Maris Otter, Scottish peated barley, Barleywine-inspired) across six casks: new charred oak, de-charred toasted oak, de-charred/re-charred oak, Madeira, Oloroso Sherry, and red wine. Re-barreled in used oak, it’s a first for New Riff.

Tasting Notes: Bold and Nuanced

  • Nose: Oak, dark fruit, cacao nibs, citrus
  • Palate: Red/dark fruits, cocoa powder, nutty malt
  • Finish: Zesty, fruity, smoky richness

“After experimenting with different blends, we were especially drawn to the way the Maris Otter, Barleywine and peated whiskies came together, resulting in a layered and complex flavor journey with depth and nuance that we think Single Malt fans will really appreciate,” said Sprance.
