O.H. Ingram River Aged, renowned for its innovative approach to whiskey maturation, is making waves with its latest expansion. O.H. Ingram expands with new acquisition of 24 acres of pristine land overlooking the Mississippi River in Columbus, KY, marking a significant step in its growth. This breathtaking site, with its panoramic views of the Mississippi, is situated directly above O.H. Ingram’s original floating rickhouses, the birthplace of its distinct River Aged whiskies.
A Historic Site with Deep Roots
The newly acquired property is more than just land; it’s a piece of history. Included in the purchase is the former Iron Banks Lodge, originally constructed in 1930 as a hotel by Francis Marion Rust. The lodge holds a special place in the community’s heart, having been built during the recovery efforts following the devastating Great Mississippi River Flood of 1927.
“This is a picturesque piece of property, and one that I’ve long identified as the perfect place to grow our operational and hospitality footprint,” says Hank Ingram, Founder of O.H. Ingram River Aged. “The potential here is phenomenal, and we are in the process of making some moves that will really put this place on the map in a new way.”
While specific plans for the site remain under wraps, Ingram hints at exciting developments that will further cement O.H. Ingram’s presence in Kentucky’s bourbon landscape. The brand is eager to welcome friends and bourbon enthusiasts to the new site, promising unique experiences that only this location can offer.
O.H. Ingram Expands
O.H. Ingram’s journey began in 2015, when Hank Ingram introduced the first permanent floating rickhouses on the Mississippi River, revolutionizing the way whiskey is aged. After outgrowing its initial location in Wickliffe, the operation moved downriver to Columbus, where the brand now has the capacity to age over 6,000 barrels of whiskey.
The floating rickhouses are a sight to behold, with barrels spending years exposed to the river’s microclimate. The constant motion, high humidity, and daily heat cycles create a unique environment that infuses the whiskey with unparalleled depth and character. This innovative aging process is what O.H. Ingram proudly refers to as “Mellowed on the Mississippi.”
