Jake’s tasting notes: Old Elk Rye Whiskey Finished In Rum Cask
Nose: Right off the bat orange, caramel, and pot still funky rum. The hint of molasses brings it all together.
Palate: The sweetness is up front, but it is broken down the notes of cracked pepper. The simplicity of this finish allows the base whiskey to shine with the key notes of rum. It is also a very creamy whiskey.
Finish: Medium and full of flavor
Closing Thoughts:
The closing finished whiskey might be the best of the three. Each of them are unique but the rye finished in rum works very well.
