As someone who truly loves double oak bourbon, I didn’t know what to expect from Peerless Double Oak Bourbon.  However, all good things happen at Kentucky Bourbon Festival I firmly believe.  That’s what happened when I ran into John Waddell pouring Kentucky Peerless Double Oak; it was a match made in heaven for my palate.  The next bit of luck came as I walked through Total Wine and found it on the shelf and have held on to the last sips of this bottle as I write this at Disney on vacation.Â
Just the facts:
Proof: 107.4

Mash bill: UndisclosedÂ
Style: Finished BourbonÂ
Jake’s Tasting Notes: Peerless Double Oak Bourbon Batch 1
Nose:Â Â Up front is a hit of mocha and roasted nuttiness. Followed by a sweet vanilla note that rounds out the nose.
Palate: The tannic notes give you a full flavor of the twice barreled bourbon! The sweetness from the corn, with the mocha and vanilla gives you the perfect pour for the winter days ahead.
Finish: long, lingering finishÂ
Closing Thoughts:
This double oak, while only a limited time offering has unseated Woodford at the top of my list of Double Oak Bourbons.  It’s a special pour that I look forward to every time it’s in my glass!Â

I agree this was incredable. I’d like to do a blind between this and a Penelope Toasted Barrel Proof pick I have.
