LOUISVILLE, KY (February 2025) – Kentucky Peerless Distilling Company, a family-owned and operated craft distillery, is proud to announce the release of Peerless Toasted Rye Whiskey. Batch 1 will launch on March 15, 2025, at 10 a.m. at the Peerless Distillery, located at 120 North 10th Street, Louisville, KY. Following the distillery release, Toasted Rye will begin distribution in Kentucky before expanding nationwide. Each customer will be limited to two bottles per purchase.
A Unique Double-Barrel Aging Process
Peerless Toasted Rye undergoes an intricate two-barrel aging process, allowing for a complex and refined flavor profile. Initially, the rye is aged in char level 3 barrels, developing notes of caramel, brown sugar, and toffee. It is then transferred into toasted barrels, which enhance the whiskey with honey, vanilla, toasted spices, and chocolate.
“We hand-select each barrel for the finishing process. We chose to use a medium toast because it contains fewer tannins, resulting in a more aromatic whiskey with a warm, sweet, savory character and strong vanilla overtones,” explains Peerless Head Taster John Wadell.
This new release follows the success of Peerless Toasted Bourbon, which has gained widespread acclaim. Toasted Bourbon received a top score of 98 in the 2024 International Wine and Spirits Competition, while Peerless High Rye Bourbon was named “Top Bourbon of the Year”. Additionally, Peerless Double Oak Rye continues to secure Gold Medals in spirits competitions.
