Proper No. Twelve Adds New Heavily Charred Barrel Expression.
Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey has introduced Proper No. Twelve Black Reserve Irish Whiskey, a new core expression arriving ahead of St. Patrick’s Day. The brand describes Black Reserve as a blend of single malt and grain whiskey aged a minimum of four years in heavily charred Level 3 bourbon barrels.
Heavily Charred Bourbon Barrels Drive Flavor
Black Reserve is matured in a mix of first- and second-fill American oak bourbon barrels, with heavy charring used to intensify flavor extraction. According to the brand, the charred barrels contribute rich caramel, toasted wood, vanilla, toffee, and spice notes while maintaining Proper No. Twelve’s signature smooth character.
Triple-Distilled Blend With Irish Heritage
The whiskey is triple distilled and produced at the world’s oldest licensed whiskey distillery, reinforcing Proper No. Twelve’s positioning around Irish whiskey tradition and blending expertise. The blend is designed to appeal to both Irish whiskey and American whiskey drinkers with a balance of boldness and approachability.
“We want Black Reserve to reinforce what Proper No. Twelve has been about from the start: expert craftsmanship, approachability and more than 400 years of whiskey production and blending expertise,” said Lander Otegui, Executive Vice President of Marketing and Innovation at Proximo Spirits. “The toasted wood and heartier caramel notes from the heavily charred barrels balanced by the gentle vanilla sweetness, is a great testament to that.”
Proper No. Twelve Black Reserve is available nationwide with an average suggested retail price of $32.99 per 750ml bottle, positioning it as an accessible Irish whiskey release for St. Patrick’s Day and beyond.
