Bourbon Heritage Month Day 18
Did you know Remus Bourbon went through a repackaging? Well they did and they offered a new Limited Time Offering when they did: Remus Highest Rye Bourbon. This bourbon sporting a 39% rye mashbill is something I have been waiting to crack this bourbon heritage month. So why wait any longer, let’s dive in!
Just the facts:
- Style: Straight Bourbon Whiskey
- Age: 6 years
- Mashbill: 51% corn, 39% rye, 10% malted barley
- Proof: 109
- Price: $55.00
- Press Release
Jake’s Tasting Notes: Remus Highest Rye Bourbon
Nose: Very sweet nose starting with the fresh smell of honey suckle & butterscotch. Followed by citrus zest, white pepper, a hint of cinnamon and stone fruit.
Palate: Very dry mouth feel that reminds me a bold Cabernet. It is very citrus forward, honey, pepper. Followed by a plumb and other stone fruits.
Finish: Dry finish with hints of plumb and citrus.
Closing thoughts
Remus Highest Rye Bourbon is 6 years, 109 proof bourbon at $55.00. Go buy a bottle, this is one of those times where I think Ross & Squibb is flexing some muscle in their own brand portfolio and people need to pay attention.
