Still Austin Whiskey Co has opened The Still Austin Quarter, a 15,000-square-foot live music, cocktail and food venue at 4211 Willow Springs Road in South Austin. The space is built around “The Musician,” the figure on Still Austin’s flagship bourbon label, and is split into four rooms: the Atrium, the Vinyl Lounge, the Music Room and a private event space. It holds about 500 guests indoors and out, with 125 outdoor seats.

The public grand opening is Thursday, Nov. 5, with full food and drink service. Austin’s own Shakey Graves plays the Music Room at 7:30 p.m., and Adrian Quesada DJs in the Vinyl Lounge starting at 7 p.m.

“I could not be more excited to open The Still Austin Quarter,” said Chris Seals, co-founder and CEO of Still Austin. “It stands as a celebration of the artists who have made our city so special.”

Inside the four rooms

OPA Design Studio was the architect of record and Weiss Architecture did the interiors. Each room shows a moment in The Musician’s life as an artist. A red tanager, Still Austin’s symbol, is etched into the concrete connecting the main rooms and points to true north. The bird first appeared in Marc Burckhardt’s painting “The Musician.”

  • The Atrium: Done in black and white, with a red spiral staircase saved from co-founder Chris Seals’ home. The charred wood under the bar echoes the inside of an oak barrel. Portraits show Charlie Sexton, Sarah Jarosz and Gary Clark Jr., each at age 17.
  • The Vinyl Lounge: Home to the Stratocaster Bar, which has a sunburst face, a fretboard back bar and strings. The record collection holds more than 5,000 albums, one of the largest in Austin. Posters by Jim Franklin, Guy Juke, Micael Priest, Danny Garrett, Kerry Awn, Frank Kozik and Chepo Peña cover the walls.
  • The Music Room: Acoustician Steven Durr, whose work spans more than 2,000 recording and performance facilities, engineered the sound. The side walls are inspired by Buaas Garden, Austin’s first live music venue, which opened in 1860. Danny and Leslie Crooks of Steamboat 1874 donated the concert posters. The stone back bar is sliced to three-eighths of an inch so it glows from within.
  • Private event space: A café-style room that honors the women of Austin music, with its own outside entrance and vintage lampshades. Its library holds the full collection of Still Austin Distillery Reserve releases.
