The Summer of Bourbon, Bourbon Lens reviews continue with our thoughts on Lost Lantern’s Ironroot Republic Single Barrel. This was the first time I have anything from this Texas distillery and this 100% corn bourbon took me on a while ride. It has interesting barrel characteristics to combat the Texas heat. Let’s dive into this Texas Bourbon picked by Lost Lantern.
Just the facts:

Jake’s tasting notes: Ironroot Republic:
Nose: caramel, warm honey, and corn bread
Palate: Corn grits with butter, sugar and cinnamon. Just like you have had at Waffle House!
Finish: lingering honey and corn sweetness, with a medium finish.
Lost Lantern Tasting Notes
It has warm oak spice and hints of pomegranate and cherry on the nose, with notes of marzipan, rich oak, sweet vanilla cream, and fresh cornbread on the palate.
Closing Thoughts
What I liked about the Summer of Bourbon line up was there an opportunity to try some distilleries I love and some I hadn’t heard of. Ironroot Republic was one that I found to be interesting and if you like corn bourbon, which I do you will like this pour! If you want to try something new this is the bottle you might want to pick up!
