The Macallan has unveiled the latest expressions in its annual Harmony Collection, featuring a unique collaboration with JING Tea.
This release includes two limited-edition single malt whiskies—Inspired By Phoenix Honey Orchid Tea (Domestic Market) and Inspired By Organic Cherrywood Lapsang Tea (Global Travel Retail)—crafted to reflect the distinctive characteristics of rare, single garden teas sourced by JING.
Two Expressions Inspired by Single Garden Teas
Crafted by The Macallan Whisky Mastery Team, each whisky is designed to express the flavor profile and heritage of its tea counterpart. Inspired By Phoenix Honey Orchid Tea is matured predominantly in Sherry Seasoned American oak casks, with added complexity from Sherry Seasoned European oak and ex-bourbon American oak. This whisky features tasting notes of peach, apricot, floral honey, tropical fruits, toffee, and sweet oak, and is bottled at 43.9% ABV.
The second expression, Inspired By Organic Cherrywood Lapsang Tea, is a Global Travel Retail exclusive. It is primarily matured in Sherry Seasoned European oak, with supporting notes from American oak. The whisky reflects its smoked tea inspiration with notes of toffee, dates, spice, ripe berries, charred citrus peel, and oak smoke, and is bottled at 44.9% ABV.
Shared Craftsmanship and Global Sourcing
The collaboration highlights The Macallan and JING’s shared commitment to craftsmanship, terroir, and sustainability. “Our collaboration with JING is a celebration of the parallels between whisky and tea—two crafts deeply rooted in nature, tradition and time,” said Jaume Ferras, Creative Director at The Macallan.
Melanie Tricklebank, CEO of JING, added, “It’s a pleasure to collaborate with such an incredible brand and to see The Macallan draw inspiration from the distinctive quality and craft of the tea producer partners who inspire our mission to change the perception of what tea can be.”
Gong Fu Tea Ceremony Inspires Whisky Ritual
In honor of this collaboration, The Macallan has introduced a whisky and tea pairing ritual based on the traditional Chinese Gong Fu tea ceremony (工夫茶), originating from Eastern Guangdong. This multisensory experience reflects the brands’ mutual dedication to tradition and cultural heritage.
Sustainable Packaging and Global Availability
Continuing its focus on sustainability, the Harmony Collection packaging is crafted using repurposed waste tea leaves. Inspired By Phoenix Honey Orchid Tea is available from August 5, 2025, at domestic retailers and online at www.themacallan.com. Inspired By Organic Cherrywood Lapsang Tea will launch in Global Travel Retail on October 1, 2025.
