New Summer Drop Includes Rare Single Grain Scotch and Transatlantic American Whiskey.

Independent bottler The Perfect Fifth has announced two limited-edition releases for Summer 2025: a rare 50-Year-Old Single Grain Scotch from the long-closed North of Scotland Distillery and a 15-Year-Old Single Barrel American Whiskey under the brand’s Canongate label. Both whiskies are now available at select retailers in New York, New Jersey, and California, as well as online at theperfectfifth.com.

North of Scotland 50-Year-Old: A Historic Single Grain Release

The North of Scotland 50-Year-Old Scotch was distilled in 1973 and bottled in 2025 by The Perfect Fifth from a cask purchased years earlier. The now-defunct Lowland distillery, which closed in 1980, was known for its high-congener grain whisky designed to retain complexity over long aging periods. “It truly is a testament to the distillation craftsmanship that has allowed this barrel to stand the test of time after more than half a century,” said founder and CEO Karl Schoen. Only 90 bottles were produced, each housed in a hand-made miniature barrel display case. ABV is 45.6%, and SRP is $915.

Canongate 15-Year-Old: A Transatlantic Aging Journey

The second release, Canongate 15-Year-Old Single Barrel American Whiskey, is part of The Perfect Fifth’s “Born and Bottled” series, which explores the relationship between Kentucky and Scotland. Distilled in Bardstown, Kentucky, in 2009, the whiskey aged three years in the U.S. before maturing an additional 12 years in Scotland. The result is a whiskey with layered notes of vanilla, cocoa, and light spice. Just 236 bottles are available in the U.S., with an ABV of 63.53% and a suggested retail price of $185.

Founder’s Vision: Linking Whisky Heritage Across Borders

“We’re excited to bring these two expressions out for the summer,” said Schoen. “The Canongate 15-Year-Old is a unique bottling due to the transatlantic journey the barrel took… this bottling celebrates the symbiotic relationship between our two countries in regards to cask sharing.”
