Bourbon Heritage Month Day 27
It’s the last Wednesday of Bourbon Heritage Month so it’s time to look at Weller Bourbon. Today we look at a bourbon I have to admit I over paid for but I really wanted a new Weller 107, so let’s dive into this single barrel.
Just the facts: Weller 107
- Style: Kentucky Straight Wheated Bourbon
- Mashbill: Buffalo Trace Wheated
- Proof: 107
- Price: $149.99
Jake’s tasting notes: Weller 107
Nose: as you would expect with a wheated bourbon it starts of sweet to the nose with brown sugar, raisin, and a hint of cinnamon. As I explore the nose deeper there are hints of vanilla, nutmeg and all spice.
Palate: This pour comes out a little warm to my palate but coats it with its creamy mouthfeel. On the second sip the spice rack shows up – toasted cinnamon, honey, and raisins with a hint of citrus
Finish: lingers with sweetness and a hint with a pepper and raisins.
Closing thoughts
After sipping this again tonight I remembered again that Weller 107 never disappoints. If you have bottle of 107 do your self a favor and pour a dram and enjoy it today!
