FRANKFORT, KY (May 16, 2024) — Buffalo Trace Distillery proudly announces the launch of Weller Millennium, an unprecedented ultra-aged whiskey from the esteemed Original Wheated Bourbon brand. This pioneering release blends vintage straight wheated bourbon and wheat whiskeys, meticulously distilled near the turn of the millennium and matured at Buffalo Trace Distillery for varying durations.

As the third oldest operational distillery globally, with a legacy tracing back to 1773, Buffalo Trace Distillery has been an emblem of authentic American whiskey craftsmanship since the nation’s infancy. Rooted in tradition yet committed to innovation, the distillery embarked on a quest to pay homage to its heritage while embracing modernity.

At Buffalo Trace Distillery, our ethos is ‘Honor Tradition, Embrace Change’.

In our pursuit of excellence, we often reserve small batches of barrels for extended aging experiments, aiming to craft impeccably matured whiskey. Weller Millennium epitomizes this ethos, showcasing the extraordinary aging potential of wheat and redefining the wheated bourbon category.

Harlen Wheatley, Master Distiller at Buffalo Trace Distillery.

Crafted from vintage straight bourbon and wheat whiskeys distilled between 2000 and 2006, Weller Millennium showcases the profound influence of wheat on flavor profile. The inherent softness of wheat imbues the whiskey with a smoother, sweeter character, elevating its approachability. Through meticulous blending, these exceptional spirits harmonize, yielding a cohesive, balanced final product greater than the sum of its parts.

In the 1840s, William Larue Weller revolutionized whiskey-making by utilizing wheat, establishing Weller as the World’s Original Wheated Bourbon.

Today, Weller remains a beacon of excellence, revered worldwide for its exceptional quality. With Weller Millennium, we celebrate this legacy by presenting the pinnacle expression of the brand, embodying the optimism of the millennium while charting a path forward as a globally acclaimed wheated whiskey.

Encased in a 750ml handcrafted crystal decanter adorned with a custom-made crystal stopper featuring W.L. Weller’s original “W” stamp, Weller Millennium is a testament to luxury. An illuminated display accompanying the 99-proof bottling showcases the percentages of each vintage spirit contained within.
