Full Details on the Release:
The newest bottling from Wheel Horse Whiskey is a Cigar Blend Bourbon. The bourbon was aged between 4-5 years in new charred oak, prior to being finished in a combination of Port, Cognac, Armagnac and Sherry casks. Compared to last year’s edition – the first release of Cigar Blend – the 2024 Edition whiskey is older, with more finishing time, and features an extra finishing cask type (Cognac). Last year’s release was rated 91 Points by WhiskyAdvocate.
On the nose, this whiskey displays aromas of brandied cherries and pipe tobacco. Once sipped, lively flavors of candied lemon peel and honey are at the fore before revealing dark fruit notes of fig and plum with a touch of maple syrup. The finish is long and nuanced with hints of toffee, cherry pie filling and leather.
Like all Wheel Horse small batch whiskeys, Cigar Blend is bottled at 101 proof and non-chill filtered. Less than 4,500 bottles of Cigar Blend were produced, and the whiskey has an SRP of $37.99.
