This year, the team embarked on a 7,000-mile journey to Rajasthan, India, where they discovered an exquisite blend of spices that inspired this limited-edition release. The Boss Hog XI is crafted with a deep understanding of whiskey complexity, making it a standout in the celebrated Boss Hog collection.

The Juggernaut combines WhistlePig’s oldest Straight Rye Whiskey with the vibrant flavors of Thandai, an aromatic Indian drink featuring a medley of nuts and spices. After experiencing Thandai during the Holi festival in Jaipur, WhistlePig’s experimental team sourced unique spices from Delhi’s Khari Baoli spice market. This inspired the creation of the world’s first Thandai whiskey barrels, where aged Rye is infused with saffron, cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, fennel, poppy, and black peppercorn.

Head Blender Meghan Ireland emphasizes the challenge of crafting each new edition of The Boss Hog series, expanding their original five promises to ten. The team aimed to capture the intricate spice profile of Thandai, translating it into a remarkable whiskey. Following extended aging in American Oak barrels, each single barrel of The Boss Hog XI undergoes a finishing process in the experimental Thandai barrels, resulting in a rich and complex flavor profile.

The Boss Hog XI features a distinctive 750ml bottle topped with a handmade Vermont pewter pig, designed to evoke the grandeur of the Indian elephant. Bottled at a proof of 103.8 to 105.2 (51.9-52.6% ABV), this limited edition whiskey is priced at $599.99 and will be available at select liquor stores, bars, and online starting October 15, 2024. Whiskey enthusiasts can authenticate their purchase using NFC technology on the back label, ensuring its exclusivity.
