The 2026 edition also commemorates the 250th anniversary of the United States, with a limited run of 152 handcrafted cups tied to the milestone.
Woodford Reserve has unveiled its annual Mint Julep Charity Cup program in celebration of the 152nd running of the Kentucky Derby.
Limited Edition Cups Honor American Heritage
The collection consists of 152 cups, including 76 polished pewter cups priced at $2,000 and 76 gold-plated cups priced at $5,000. Each cup is handcrafted by Graham Newton of From The Vault and features a sculpted thoroughbred horse surrounded by 13 stars, representing the original thirteen colonies. Both versions include sterling silver detailing and are adorned with 13 lab-created white sapphires.

“This year’s julep charity program marries two historic events – the birth of the United States and the most iconic American race, run every year at Churchill Downs since 1875,” said Elizabeth McCall.
Charity Partnership with Closely Crafted
Net proceeds from the program will benefit Closely Crafted, a nonprofit founded by Gigi Burris O’Hara. The organization focuses on preserving and advancing artisan craftsmanship in the American fashion industry through education, apprenticeships, and industry collaboration.
“As an artisan, I founded Closely Crafted to build community and ensure that skills like millinery and other specialty trades are passed on to a new generation of artisans,” said Gigi Burris O’Hara. “Woodford Reserve shares a deep respect for handcrafted work, integrity, and the people behind it. We are honored that Closely Crafted will benefit from this year’s Mint Julep Cup program as we celebrate the enduring legacy of American craftsmanship.”
Availability and Derby Experience
The cups will be available for online purchase beginning April 2 and must be picked up at the Mint Julep Experience at Churchill Downs during Kentucky Oaks or Derby days. The experience will be located in the Woodford Reserve Paddock near the main entrance.
Official Mint Julep Recipe for USA 250 Celebration
Woodford Reserve has also created a commemorative mint julep recipe. The drink is prepared by muddling 5–7 mint leaves in a julep cup, adding 2 ounces of Woodford Reserve Double Oaked Bourbon, and one bar spoon of sweetener made from sugar maple syrup with cinnamon and nutmeg. The cup is then filled with ice, garnished with mint sprigs, and finished with a red, white, and blue presentation featuring a fleur-de-lis and red rose.
