On the Heels of Its Oldest Rye, the Washington Distillery’s Oldest Bourbon Release Debuts August 23, 2025.

Woodinville Whiskey Company will celebrate its 15th anniversary on August 23, 2025, with the release of its oldest bourbon to date—Woodinville Straight Bourbon Aged 9 Years. This limited-edition release is bottled at 100 proof and will retail for $129.99 MSRP. The distillery plans to release only 500 cases of the 9-Year Bourbon, which will first be available during its annual Harvest Release event before going online and national.

Crafted for a Legacy

Founded by Orlin Sorensen and Brett Carlile, Woodinville Whiskey was launched with guidance from the late David Pickerell, a legendary figure in the whiskey industry and former Master Distiller at Maker’s Mark. The duo started the distillery in Washington state over 15 years ago, investing their personal savings and 401ks to pursue their vision.

Unique Mashbill and Barrel Treatment

Woodinville Straight Bourbon Aged 9 Years features a mashbill of 55% corn, 35% rye, and 10% malted barley, differing from the flagship bourbon. The whiskey was aged in heavily toasted, lightly charred barrels crafted from 24-month open-air seasoned staves by Independent Stave Company, and matured in Quincy, WA since 2016.

Flavor Profile and Tasting Notes

The distillery describes the tasting notes as follows:

  • Nose: Butter cookie and fresh citrus
  • Palate: Dried mango, milk chocolate, spice drop candies, and caramel nougat
  • Finish: Toffee with a hint of nutmeg spice

Limited Release Details and Future Plans

The first 500 numbered bottles will be available at 10:00 a.m. on August 23 during the anniversary event at the distillery. The release will then be available online at woodinvillewhiskeyco.com and at select national retailers starting August 25.

“We’re following our 2024 8-year limited release with this 9-year— and a 10-year will follow in 2026,” said Brett Carlile, co-founder and Head Distiller. “It’s incredible to see the impact of the unique barrel toast/char finish on this bourbon, along with additional time in those ISC barrels.”

Anniversary Event to Feature Additional Releases

The August 23 celebration will also include the release of five barrels of another limited-edition whiskey, available exclusively at the distillery. The event is part of Woodinville’s annual Harvest Release and will be hosted at their tasting room in Woodinville, WA.
