Every year, they pay homage to the different National Parks across the United States with a very special release whiskey release. Last year’s National Parks No. 3 won out in a blind tasting among some really strong whiskeys. If you want to see my thoughts, you can find it here. So, how will National Parks No. 4 stack up? Let’s dive in!

Wyoming Whiskey National Parks No.4 – Jake’s Tasting Notes

Nose: The nose is very well balanced, with sweet yet astringent notes. When diving in, I initially get a lot of caramel and apple. As it continues to open up, there are more fall flavors; cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg. I also find an underlying citrus note which makes the nose come together more fully.

Palate: First thoughts on the palate is that irbid whiskey drinks higher than its proof. The pour is also more astringent than I expected based on the nose. As the pour opens up, (much like the nose) it is fall in a glass. Toasted spices of cinnamon and nutmeg, followed by honey and milk chocolate. The dram is slightly thin on the palate but is packed with flavor.

Finish: The finish is lingering with honey and chocolate and just a hint of the baking spices.

Closing Thoughts

While I no longer have any of National Parks No. 3 for a side-by-side comparison, I think National Parks No. 4 is even better. If you are looking for a good gift this holiday season, don’t delay. Pick up this brand new bottle for your favorite bourbon drinker.
