I crave more Japanese Whisky! With Nikka bringing an age stated Yoichi 10 Year Single Malt to the US Market, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it!
Just the facts:
Proof: 90
Age: 10 years old
Mash bill: 100% Malted Barley
Style: Japanese Single Malt Whisky
Jake’s Tasting Notes: Yoichi 10 Year Old Single Malt
Nose: very bold nose with a variety of punchy flavors. You are met with crisp apple, vanilla, a hint of smokiness and subtle oak.
Palate: the first sip is smoke forward with a lot of earthy notes that fade to chocolate. As you continue to sip, those notes still shine but fresh orchard fruits, honey and vanilla bring a depth of flavor to the overall pour.
Finish: smoky, bitter chocolate. Medium to long finish.
Closing Thoughts :
This pour makes me want to continue to explore Japanese Whisky. Yoichi 10 Year Old Single Malt is something that brings depth of flavor and is worth the price tag.
