Old Dominick Distillery has announced the upcoming release of its 8-Year Reserve Bourbon, available beginning Friday, September 5, 2025.
The new expression will debut at the distillery’s downtown Memphis tasting room and select retailers across Tennessee and the Southeast, with online shipping available to 42 states.
Aged Eight Years, Bottled at 100 Proof
The Old Dominick 8-Year Reserve is a straight bourbon whiskey aged in new American oak barrels for a full eight years. Bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV), the bourbon balances boldness and sweetness with notes of oak and vanilla. Head Distiller David Valentine said, “We have been setting aside select barrels with the intent to ultimately bottle and serve a masterfully blended bourbon. If someone is looking for a sweet finish with honey and caramel tones, this is the bottle for them.”
A Milestone Release for Memphis Craft Spirits
This release marks a significant milestone for Old Dominick, as the bourbon’s age matches the distillery’s own history, having opened its doors in 2017. The 8-Year Reserve builds on Old Dominick’s reputation for crafting distinctive high-rye whiskeys, though this expression shares the same mash bill as the brand’s Tennessee Whiskey and undergoes a quick charcoal mellowing process. Despite this, the distillery chose to classify the release as bourbon, citing its flavor profile of honey, caramel, vanilla, and chocolate.
Positive Early Reception
Early feedback from bourbon reviewers and influencers highlights the 8-Year Reserve’s “intentional sweetness,” dessert-like palate, and defined finish. The release has been praised for its combination of complexity and approachability, further positioning Old Dominick as a leader in the craft whiskey category.
Release Week Celebration in Memphis
To commemorate the launch, Old Dominick will host a release week celebration from September 5 to 12 at the distillery, located at 305 S. Front Street in Memphis. The event will feature guided tours, tastings, specialty cocktails, and behind-the-scenes experiences highlighting the making of the 8-Year Reserve Bourbon. The bottle will carry a suggested retail price of $59.99.
