2XO and renowned American whiskey blender Dixon Dedman just released The Vinyl Blend, the sixth limited-time small batch bourbon in the 2XO Icon Series.
This special release is a tribute to the experience of listening to music on vinyl, which Dedman fondly recalls from his childhood. “Classic vinyl was how we listened to music growing up in my parent’s house,” Dixon Dedman explained. “The simple ritual of enjoying an album with a neat pour of whiskey is now one of my favorite ways to relax.”
The Double Oak Process Behind The Vinyl Blend
The Vinyl Blend showcases Dixon Dedman’s signature double oak method, which is the foundation of the 2XO brand. The bourbon undergoes an additional exposure to oak, enhancing its sweetness and balancing the spiciness of its rye-forward mash bills. The blend consists of two proprietary mash bills: a high-rye (35%) and a moderate-rye (18%) bourbon mash bill. The high-rye mash bill is double barreled into new #4 charred oak barrels for 9-12 months, contributing 40% of the final blend. The remaining 60% is a combination of the original high-rye and moderate-rye bourbon mash bills.
Flavor Profile and Limited Edition Status
The Vinyl Blend offers a complex flavor profile with notes of honeysuckle, vanilla crème brûlée, grilled pineapple, and a long, viscous, peppery finish.
