Have you seen the news? Talk of “Dry January”is becoming louder and louder each year. As the world continues to be stressful, this month is a chance for some to reassess their habits around drinking. In the latest media alert Southern Glazer’s, check out what they have to say!
Non-Alcoholic Spirits Media Alert
The start of a new year has many people looking for moderation and balance, especially when it comes to their health and wellness.
People who choose to limit or omit alcohol are sometimes referred to as “sober-curious.” And to meet the needs of this growing population, especially during the new year, wine makers, liquor companies and bartenders are creating a wide variety of low ABV and spirit-free options that deliver both taste and control.
- Non-alcoholic or alcohol-removed wines and spirits – Like Fre wines and Seedlip non-alcohol spirits.
- Using beverages naturally lower in alcohol by volume (ABV) – Such as lower proof liqueurs and cordials like amaro and Campari, and fortified wines like sherry and vermouth.
- Organic and biodynamic wines – Organic wines are made from grapes grown without the use of artificial chemical fertilizers, pesticides, fungicides and herbicides. Biodynamic wines are made using biodynamic methods both to grow the fruit and during the post-harvest processing.
- Gluten-free spirits – You might be surprised to know that most spirits are naturally gluten free. Some are lower in calories too, like blanco tequilas.
- Crafting lower alcohol by volume cocktails – Using full proof ABV spirits but adding other ingredients such as tonic, soda and juice lowers the overall ABV.
- CBD beverages – CBD is being infused into spirit-free alcohol, tonics, syrups and bitters, and used in low to no alcohol drinks.
Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits is the world’s preeminent beverage alcohol distributor, including both “low and no” alcohol options. During this year’s Liquid Insights Tour, SGWS experts identified “low and no” alcohol as one of the top trends in the industry.
