Today, we are reviewing Five Nine Bourbon Whiskey from Troll Co., the lifestyle brand that celebrates blue-collar America. This bourbon, known as “the tools-down whiskey” was released back in November 2022. The name, Five Nine, comes from the hours many blue collar workers work – from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., instead of the nine to five hours white collar workers traditionally work. You can find more details on the brand and its origin story in this article from Forbes. No time to waste, let’s get right into the review.

Scott’s Tasting Notes: “Five Nine Bourbon”
Nose: rye bread, corn husk funk, youthful oak, brown sugar, and a touch of cinnamon.
Palate: Corn bread, sweet roasted corn and husk, walnut bitter note. With a few drops of water, this nutty note really shined.
Finish: dark-chocolate bitterness and drying from the spice.
Closing Thoughts
This bourbon is a no frills, youthful (yet traditional) Kentucky Bourbon. While it is not a complex whiskey, this is not unexpected given the no-nonsense styling of the brand, its packaging, and the hard-working lifestyle they support.
