The bourbon community contributed the $1 million donation in just two weeks’ time.
Sazerac Barrel Select (SBS), Sazerac’s single barrel release program, just concluded it’s sweepstakes for the chance to select and purchase a barrel of Blanton’s Gold Bourbon. The Blanton’s Gold Charity Sweepstakes was open to the public, with each entry costing $100. The entry was in the form of a donation benefitting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. As a result of the two-week long sweepstakes, Sazerac just announced that St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital will receive a donation of $1,000,000.
This was a first-of-its-kind fundraising initiative and the first time a barrel of Blanton’s Gold was made widely available to the public. According to Sazerac, the success of the Blanton’s Gold Charity Sweepstakes is a testament to not just the passion, but the compassion within the bourbon community. Sazerac extended it’s gratitude to fans of Blanton’s Bourbon and their support of a lifesaving mission; ensuring families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food.
Sazerac noted that SBS has raised more than $3 million for different charitable organizations in recent years. SBS is a membership-based program which offers members exclusive one-of-a-kind experiences at Sazerac’s award-winning distilleries. Those who are not members should sign up to learn about all SBS and to participate in the quarterly barrel drawings. SBS membership is free and you can sign up here.
