Bomberger’s PFG™ is the Newest Innovation from Michter’s Distillery

The Bomberger’s PFG finishing barrel is coopered from a blend of French Oak from various origins, including Tronçais, Allier, Nevers, and Vosges forests.

Michter’s has released its highly anticipated Bomberger’s PFG™ Kentucky Straight Bourbon for 2025. This new expression builds on the bold character of the flagship Bomberger’s Declaration Bourbon and showcases the brand’s continued innovation.

Michter’s Master Distiller Dan McKee explained, “This new Bomberger’s PFG™ release continues our efforts to further experiment with Bomberger’s and push the boundaries of American whiskey,” highlighting the whiskey’s rich texture and wide flavor spectrum resulting from an intentional approach to wood science.

The production process for Bomberger’s PFG™ includes a two-step aging process. Initially, the bourbon is aged in a new toasted and charred American oak barrel. After maturation, the bourbon is transferred to a second, custom French oak barrel crafted from wood sourced from forests like Tronçais, Allier, Nevers, and Vosges. The French oak undergoes a meticulous seasoning process for at least 40 months before being hand-selected to create the finishing barrels. The bourbon is then batched, filtered, and bottled at 100.2 proof (50.1% ABV).

Michter’s Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson praised the result, noting, “The result is a medley of engaging aromas from confectionary to floral, a palate of beautifully integrated fruits and herbaceous notes with a full body and a luxurious, creamy texture that lingers with soft spice and chocolate.” The suggested retail price for a 750ml bottle of Bomberger’s PFG™ is $140.
