Kentucky Senator Bourbon Expands to Louisiana with Dual Releases
Kentucky Senator Spirits has announced its official expansion into Louisiana with the introduction of two limited-edition releases: the John Edwards Release and the debut of the all-new Louisiana Senator Bourbon line. The inaugural entry in the Louisiana collection, The Huey P. Long Release, will be available starting July 3.
Louisiana Senator Bourbon Honors “The Kingfish”
The new Louisiana Senator Bourbon series pays tribute to iconic Louisiana political figure Huey P. Long, also known as “The Kingfish.” The debut bottling is an 8-year-old bourbon, part of a planned three-bottle vertical that will include 9- and 10-year-old expressions released in 2026 and 2027. Bottled at 107 proof with a mash bill of 78% corn, 13% rye, and 9% malted barley, the limited release will be capped at 1,000 bottles, available in both small batch and single barrel formats. Distribution will be handled by Uncorked in Louisiana.
Potter Jane Distillery Collaborates on New Release
Kentucky Senator Spirits partnered with Denny Potter and Jane Bowie of Potter Jane Distillery in Springfield, Kentucky, to develop the Huey P. Long Release. The duo will also blend future installments in the Louisiana Senator vertical series.
Founders Highlight Cultural and Historical Roots
“We couldn’t think of a better figure to launch this new line than Huey P. Long,” said Kentucky Senator Bourbon co-founder Andre Regard. “He was bold, unapologetic and unforgettable just like this Bourbon.”
Fellow co-founder Damon Thayer added, “Louisiana has always been Bourbon country, and we’re excited to bring both Kentucky Senator and Louisiana Senator Bourbon into this vibrant community of collectors and enthusiasts.”
John Edwards Release Sees Expanded Distribution
Alongside the Louisiana launch, the brand is also releasing the John Edwards Release in Louisiana, the latest addition to the Kentucky Senator Bourbon collection. Aged 7.5 years and also bottled at 107 proof, it features a mash bill of 75% corn, 21% rye, and 4% malted barley. The bourbon is said to deliver bold notes of caramel, toasted oak, and warm spice. A limited quantity will be available this summer in Louisiana.
