Texas’ Balcones Awarded “Craft Producer of the Year” by Whisky Magazine

Balcones Distilling has been recognized by Whisky Magazine as the Craft Producer of the Year for 2024. This award is sure to be a boon for Texas distilleries in general and is clearly a huge accomplishment for the team at Balcones. In case you missed it, Balcones Distilling was a featured guest on Bourbon Lens podcast in early 2023. Check out the Episode 189 with Gabe RiCharde, Balcones’ Director of Spirits, to learn more about their Texas distilling operation.

It has become evident in recent years (especially to us “Kentucky folks”) that Texas distilleries play a critical role in the American Whiskey landscape. This is especially true as craft whiskey hits a level of maturity rivaling some of the biggest players in the market. One of the leaders in Texas has consistently been Balcones Distilling in Waco, celebrating its 15th anniversary. This prestigious award from Whisky Magazine solidifies Balcones’ position at the pinnacle of North American craft whiskey and as a pioneer in the American Single Malt Whiskey category.

In addition to the recognition by Whisky Magazine, Balcones also received several other awards recently from The Fifty Best for its whiskies, including their recent limited release Cataleja (reviewed here).
