The pre-eminent independent blender introduces a complex multi-state cask-strength blend featuring component stocks aged up to 15 years.
LOUISVILLE, KY — Barrell Craft Spirits® (BCS), the pioneer in independent blending of unique aged, cask-strength whiskey since 2013, has officially introduced Barrell Bourbon Batch 038. This limited-release blend arrives with a custom patriotic Red, White, and Blue label to commemorate the upcoming 250th Anniversary of the United States.
A quintessential demonstration of the house’s boundary-pushing approach to multi-provenance blending, Batch 038 brings together straight bourbon components across four different distilling states and various maturity levels: Kentucky (12-year), Tennessee (12 & 15-year), Indiana (9 & 10-year), and Maryland (8-year).
The release was expertly crafted and bottled in Louisville, Kentucky, at an uncut cask strength of 116.96 proof (58.48% ABV). It features a derived breakdown mashbill of 79% corn, 17% rye, and 4% malted barley.
Architecturally, Barrell Bourbon Batch 038 showcases layers of mature oak woodiness. The tasting palate is dark, brooding, and earthy, with fine tannins that linger on the finish. Introducing a splash of water unlocks a sweeter side, bringing forward notes of confetti cake, lemon jelly, and ripe mango.
