Jake’s Tasting Notes: BBCo. West Virginia Great Barrel Company Collaboration

Color: Cooper

Nose: Warmth of the holidays. It is like you are walking into the grandma’s kitchen as she is baking desert. Almond, vanilla, and chocolate come together to make a beautiful nose.

Palate: Very coating mouthfeel, really changes the flavors from the front to the back of the palate. The cherry wood stands out, it almost reminds me of the artificial cherry in a Pop Tart. The cherry note is balanced by the woodiness of the barrel. The Canadian Whisky really gives it a grain-heavy mouthfeel that balances out the citrus in the rye.

Finish: Short with big burst of flavor.

Closing Thoughts

One of the more interesting releases in the Collaboration Series by Bardstown Bourbon Company.  I am glad that they are blending Canadian whiskey into their portfolio as it gives great complexity and mouthfeel to this pour.  If you are a fan of unique blending, this will be a great pour for you.
