Bib & Tucker launched their Double Char Bourbon nationwide in August 2023
This new bourbon was aged twice to create savory smoky notes and a smooth finish. Bib & Tucker Double Char is first aged for six years in Tennessee in new white American oak, followed by a minimum of five months in a second heavily charred and smoked new barrel. This unique double char aging method aims to create a rich and deep flavor for Bib & Tucker’s Bourbon. Let’s dive into our tasting notes and impressions of this new bourbon.

Bourbon Lens Tasting Notes:
- Nose: light smokiness, almost like someone just lit a cigar nearby. The smoke and char character is more faint than I expected but overall pleasant.
- Palate: sweet, sugary grits; dark chocolate cherry cordials, and reminiscent of a smoked maple old fashioned.
- Finish: the finish is relatively short and left me wanting just a bit more.
- Impressions: in comparison to the Bib & Tucker Small Batch (also aged 6 years but which is offered at 92 proof), Double Char definitely dials up the smoke and wood char (especially on the palate) but left me wanting a little more proof to help carry the flavors longer into the finish. However, if you are looking for your next summertime “barbecue whiskey”, you just might love having this smoky, sweet bourbon at your side.
About Bib & Tucker:
Bib & Tucker crafts award-winning small batch bourbons that are aged to perfection for a minimum of 6 years. The name, bottle and small batch approach were inspired by the turn of the century in America, a time of unprecedented progress and adventure when all bourbon was small batch. Aged in the rolling hills of Tennessee, Bib & Tucker doesn’t cut corners and uses no additives, artificial flavors or artificial colors. In a time when other brands are taking their age statements away, Bib & Tucker proudly puts the age statement on the front of every bottle. Bib & Tucker 6-Year-Old was awarded 93 Points from Whisky Advocate, ranking #14 out of the Top 20 Whiskies in 2021. The bourbons are best enjoyed neat, on the rocks or in whiskey-forward cocktails.
