- Palate: Caramel-drizzled vanilla tart topped with a fruit cocktail of orange zest, pears, cherries, and berries. A little water releases a cascade of baking spice and an explosion of fruit.

Buzzard’s Roost Sipping Whiskey is heading into Bourbon Heritage Month with an exciting new limited release in collaboration with the Kentucky Bourbon Festival (KBF). Buzzard’s Roost 6-Year Old Single Barrel Cask Strength Bourbon will be available for sale starting at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 15 at its booth at the Kentucky Bourbon Festival in Bardstown, Kentucky and at Buzzard’s Roost Whiskey Row Experience in downtown Louisville.
We wanted to offer a really extraordinary single barrel for Bourbon Heritage Month and the Kentucky Bourbon Festival. While tasting through a range of possibilities, this is the barrel that all five tasters, including me, instantly loved.

With a mash bill of 75% corn, 21% rye and 4% malted barley, this bourbon offers notes of caramel cake studded with dark cherries and red currant, fresh from the oven, balanced with a dusting of cinnamon and orange zest. It’s 114.4 proof, and approximately 180 bottles will be available (for $95 each) exclusively at KBF and the Buzzard’s Roost Whiskey Row Experience in Louisville, while supplies last.
This year marks Buzzard’s Roost’s debut at the Kentucky Bourbon Festival. Alongside its KBF Private Barrel Bourbon – part of the 2023 Distillers’ Row Series –Buzzard’s Roost will be pouring and selling all six bourbons and rye whiskeys from its core portfolio (two different ones each day) during the three-day festival.
Buzzard’s Roost also has donated three special bottles to the KBF Master Distillers Auction benefitting the Oscar Getz Museum in Bardstown: a rare and priceless bottle of Buzzard’s Roost 15-Year-Old Bourbon (only 12 bottles in existence and not available for sale anywhere), Buzzard’s Roost Founders Select 7-Year-Old Bourbon, and a popular fan-favorite limited release, Buzzard’s Roost Cigar Rye.
Additionally, Buzzard’s Roost is partnering with Bourbon & Banter for its 30 Days of Bourbon program, with a social media and newsletter campaign aimed at reaching more whiskey lovers.
Our momentum is strong, heading into Bourbon Heritage Month and the key fall/holiday selling season. Our new still – recently dubbed Buzz Cauldron – is up and running at the Buzzard’s Roost Whiskey Row Experience, tours and sensory experiences are filling up daily, bottles are selling in our retail shop and online, and we’re gaining ground in the best retailers, bars and restaurants in 12 states – with more states to be announced soon.
