Debut of a New Barrel Proof Expression for Heaven Hill Distillery.
Elijah Craig Bourbon has announced the launch of its first-ever Barrel Proof Rye Whiskey, expanding the brand’s barrel proof and rye whiskey offerings. The inaugural batch will roll out nationwide in late September 2025, marking a major addition to Elijah Craig’s portfolio of premium American whiskeys.
Whiskey Profile and First Release Details
The first release, Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Rye Batch A925, carries an age statement of 12 years and 3 months and is bottled at 108 proof. The whiskey presents a copper hue with aromas of baking spices, gingerbread, and molasses. Tasting notes highlight stewed fruits, cinnamon, nutmeg, and rye spice with a long, warm finish.
Master Distiller on the Release
Conor O’Driscoll, Master Distiller of Elijah Craig, commented on the new expression:
“Our signature Elijah Craig spice and complexity shine through beautifully in our inaugural Barrel Proof Rye, in an approachable way that makes it ideal for barrel proof first-timers and experienced palates alike. As whiskey fans know, barrel proof is kind of like that famous box of chocolates, in not knowing what you’re going to get until the barrel dumps. In this instance, we got a 108 proof treat that drinks bolder than its number would suggest.”
Release Schedule and Batching System
Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Rye will follow the same batching system as its Barrel Proof Bourbon counterpart, with three annual releases each January, May, and September. Each batch is identified with a code that includes the order of the release, the month, and the year—for example, “A925” represents the first release of September 2025.
Availability and Pricing
The new rye expression will be available in 750 ml bottles nationwide beginning late September 2025 at a suggested retail price of $74.99. It joins Elijah Craig’s established Barrel Proof Bourbon lineup, which carries the same MSRP.
