Elijah Craig has announced the release of its first-ever fragrance, Elijah Craig Char No. 3 Cologne, a scent designed to capture the warm, smoky character associated with the brand’s bourbon-making process. The new cologne draws its inspiration from the charred oak barrels that define Elijah Craig’s signature flavor profile. According to the brand, the fragrance is intended to offer an elevated sensory experience that reflects one of bourbon’s most defining traditions.
Honoring the Legacy of the Father of Bourbon
Named after Elijah Craig, who is widely credited with pioneering the use of charred oak barrels, the fragrance takes its title from the Level 3 char used in aging Elijah Craig Bourbon. The company states that Char No. 3 Cologne evokes the moment when fire meets oak, creating layers of warmth, spice, charred wood, and subtle sweetness. The scent is described as reflecting the same depth and character that the brand’s bourbon is known for.
A Blend of Botanicals and Barrel-Inspired Notes
The fragrance features a blend of botanical and barrel-influenced aromas, including juniper berry, lavandin, orange blossom, nutmeg, oak barrel, and birch wood. These elements are anchored by vanilla and cocoa, creating what the brand calls a “lasting impression that’s both timeless and modern.” Elijah Craig notes that this fragrance pays tribute to craftsmanship and the transformative nature of the barrel-char process.
Crafted in Partnership with Leading Fragrance Makers
Elijah Craig collaborated with Symrise, a global fine-fragrance company, to formulate the scent through a study of charred oak staves used in aging its bourbon. Production and manufacturing were completed by Crafting Beauty, an international firm specializing in bespoke fragrance products. The fragrance draws from the same palette of spice and smoky notes found in Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon.
Holiday Release With Limited Availability
Elijah Craig Char No. 3 is currently available for pre-order at a suggested retail price of $49.99 and will ship in time for the holiday season. Limited quantities will also be available for purchase at the Heaven Hill Bourbon Experience in Bardstown, Kentucky. The company clarifies that the cologne is for topical use only.
