NEW YORK, NY – Fettercairn Single Malt Scotch Whisky, a historic Highland distillery known for its innovative craftsmanship, has announced its most significant U.S. expansion to date. The distillery is introducing its 12-Year-Old and 16-Year-Old expressions nationwide, inviting American enthusiasts to discover its signature “tropical” house style.

The Secret of the Copper Cooling Ring

Founded over 200 years ago, Fettercairn is distinguished by a unique distillation process. The distillery utilizes a copper cooling ring that cascades chilled water from the Cairngorm Mountains down the exterior of the stills. This rapid cooling ensures only the lightest vapors rise, resulting in a spirit characterized by tropical fruit notes, a silky mouthfeel, and a subtle coconut richness.

“That process gives us a beautifully light, tropical spirit to work with, and from there, it’s about shaping that character with care—preserving its freshness while building texture and complexity through maturation. It’s an imaginative approach to Highland Single Malt Scotch,” said Distillery Manager Stewart Walker.

The Core Collection

  • Fettercairn 12-Year-Old (SRP $54.99): Matured in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels. Expect a palate of nectarine and tropical fruit with a finish of roasted coffee and black toffee.
  • Fettercairn 16-Year-Old (SRP $89.99): Aged in a combination of first-fill and refill ex-bourbon barrels and hogsheads. This expression offers deeper notes of grilled pineapple, sugared almonds, and poached pear.

“As Fettercairn continues to grow in the U.S., these two releases mark an important step in inviting more whisky drinkers to experience our house style,” said Andrew Kullhem, President of North America for Whyte & Mackay. “They offer a clear expression of our tropical character—bringing together innovation, maturation, and craftsmanship in a way that invites discovery, whether you’re exploring single malt for the first time or deepening an existing appreciation.”

Both whiskies are bottled at 46% ABV or higher, featuring natural color and non-chill filtration, a standard prized by connoisseurs for preserving flavor integrity.
