The 7 year bourbon will debut at a distillery event on Saturday, October 18, 2025.
Garrison Brothers Distillery has announced the release of Sonora, a new Texas Straight Bourbon finished in rye whiskey barrels. The bourbon will debut at a distillery event on Saturday, October 18, 2025. Aged seven years, Sonora pays tribute to the Caverns of Sonora, a natural landmark in Texas that inspired both the name and the concept of the release.
Ninth Expression in Garrison Brothers Portfolio
Sonora becomes the ninth expression in the distillery’s lineup. The bourbon spent four years in new American white oak barrels before aging an additional three years in rye whiskey barrels. It will be bottled at 108 proof and sealed with ruby red wax.
The Team Behind Sonora’s Release
The creation of Sonora was a collaborative effort at the distillery. Master Distiller Donnis Todd guided Samantha Olvera, who has worked at Garrison Brothers for seven years and is recognized as the first female Latina in Texas to produce bourbon from grain to glass. Olvera worked alongside Nancy Garrison, Todd, and other members of the distilling team, while marketing director Ciara Knee-Chavez oversaw the promotional aspects of the release.

“Garrison Brothers Sonora Bourbon is a testament to the power of female leadership, collaboration and true craftsmanship. Since starting in 2006, we have had the privilege of working with many female leaders as part of our family business including Samantha Olvera on our distilling team. It’s nice to share their stories through bourbon,” said Nancy Garrison, Co-founder, Garrison Brothers Distillery.
Flavor Profile and Tasting Notes
The bourbon is described as a deep amber whiskey with aromas of sweet corn, oak, rye spice, vanilla, and butterscotch. Additional notes include citrus zest, almond tea, and wildflower honey. The palate features black pepper and cinnamon, followed by a finish of brown sugar and crème brûlée.
Availability and Pricing
The first 1,000 bottles of Sonora will be sold at the October 18 release event at the distillery. An additional 5,000 bottles will be available through Garrison Brothers’ online store and select retailers nationwide beginning in early November. The suggested retail price is $159.99. Garrison Brothers will donate $5 from every bottle sold to the Texas Cave Management Association to support preservation of the Caverns of Sonora.
