Romano delves into his art and his collaboration with High Bank.

My work lives somewhere between abstract expressionism and surrealism. I’m mostly interested in the interactions of color and composition. It commonly comes to life in the form of faces or abstract floral designs. Acrylic and Spray paint are currently my prefered mediums. My artwork is my ritual, it’s what I turn to as a respite from reality and my daily grind.

This specific project with High Bank is special because of my relationship with Adam and Tony Thomas (High Bank’s Marketing Manager). It was summer 2014, a summer full of long nights, and heavy pours…. I met Adam while we were both working as independent graphic designers at a local architecture firm, we hit it off immediately, I scored his digits… we linked up… and the rest is history. Later that summer a mutual friend of Adam and mine hosted a 4th of July party, Tony and I met that night and bonded over our vastly different taste in rap music and have been friends ever since. I couldn’t be more proud of this dynamic duo, watching them in the The War Room episodes and following what High Bank Distillery has become in the last 8 years!

Before High Bank, I was a graphic designer for 10 years. With my background, I have an extreme appreciation for the art world. The idea for this series came from wanting to showcase local talent and highlight the importance of our arts community.

When planning our next Double Oaked large batch release, our team tasted through Barrel #20 and #27. These two barrels stood out to us so much, that we wanted to release them as single barrels. You can’t go wrong with either of them.
