Bottles don’t normally just show up to the Bourbon Lens. However, we got a package from Holladay Bourbon at the beginning of May that had us very curious. In a very nice package was hand written card, notes on the distillery, and a nice looking bottle which read “Holladay Bourbon 6yr Soft Red Winter Wheat Bottled-in-Bond”. I didn’t know anything about it at the time. And because I was intrigued and needed to pack a bottle for a vacation in Destin, this bottle took a journey to Florida with me. Here are my thoughts on this tasty bourbon!
Just The Facts:
- Age: 6 Year Old
- Proof: 100 Proof
- Style Botted-In-Bond Wheated Bourbon
Jake’s Tasting Notes: Holladay Bourbon 6yr Soft Winter Wheat Bottled In Bond
Nose: Sweet fruit from the first sniff. Bread pudding, cream soda, with cherry and plum.
Palate: Very creamy bourbon, notes of cherry, cereal grain, and lingering citrus.
Finish: Very bold flavor which left a lingering, jam-like consistency.
Closing Thoughts
When this bottle showed up at my house, I had no clue what to expect. However, by the end of my sipping journey, I could tell you that I was impressed. This bourbon has so much flavor and character, I can see why people like Michael Veach made it his May bourbon of the month and David Jennings aka RareBird 101 thought very highly of it! This is definitely one to check out.
