Jack Daniel’s Distillery Series Selection #17 is a batch-proof High Angel’s Share Straight Tennessee Whiskey drawn from barrels that spent years maturing on the top floor of Barrelhouse 1-13. This release returns to Coy Hill, the location of several highly sought after releases from the distillery.
The limited release showcases how the extreme conditions at the highest levels of a barrelhouse can influence Tennessee whiskey, resulting in a concentrated spirit bottled at an impressive 138.4 proof.
High Angel’s Share Whiskey Gets Its Flavor from Coy Hill
Distillery Series #17 begins with traditional Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey distilled in 2016. The whiskey was placed in barrels on the top floor of Barrelhouse 1-13 at Coy Hill, where higher temperatures contributed to an increased angel’s share during maturation.
As more whiskey evaporated from the barrels over the years, the remaining spirit became increasingly concentrated. Jack Daniel’s says the resulting whiskey offers a distinct interpretation of its traditional Tennessee Whiskey profile.
“This release is a perfect example of what happens when we let nature take the lead,” said Chris Fletcher, Jack Daniel’s Master Distiller. “By resting these barrels on the very top floor of our Coy Hill barrelhouse, the intense heat increased the angel’s share over the years. What’s left behind in the wood is a beautifully concentrated profile that showcases a whole different side of our traditional Tennessee Whiskey.”
Jack Daniel’s High-Proof Whiskey Delivers Rich Tasting Notes
At 138.4 proof, Distillery Series #17 delivers a rich and concentrated flavor profile. Jack Daniel’s describes notes of brown sugar, banana nut bread, and maple syrup across the palate, followed by a long finish featuring oak and warm, rich flavors.
The whiskey was selected by Jack Daniel’s Whiskey Taster Dale McGee and bottled at batch proof, allowing the concentrated character created during its high-angel’s-share maturation to remain at the forefront.
Distillery Series Continues Jack Daniel’s Experimental Whiskey Tradition
The High Angel’s Share release is the latest expression in Jack Daniel’s Distillery Series, a collection designed to explore different approaches to whiskey production and maturation.
The new release also continues Jack Daniel’s interest in the effects of barrelhouse location and maturation conditions. By placing the barrels on the highest floor of the Coy Hill warehouse, the distillery was able to expose the whiskey to the intense heat associated with that location and allow evaporation to play a larger role in the aging process.
The result is a limited Tennessee Whiskey that offers a concentrated and high-proof take on Jack Daniel’s traditional whiskey profile.

Jack Daniel’s Distillery Series Selection #17 High Angel’s Share Straight Tennessee Whiskey is bottled at 138.4 proof in 375mL bottles. The release is available exclusively in Tennessee and at the White Rabbit Bottle Shop at the Jack Daniel Distillery beginning in August 2026.
The suggested retail price is $44.75 per 375mL bottle.
