Jackson Purchase Bourbon Releases “Batch No. 1Full Proof”

Jackson Purchase Distillery (JPD) has announced the debut of its first proprietary bottling, Jackson Purchase Bourbon “Batch No. 1 – Full Proof.” The release marks a milestone for the Hickman, Kentucky-based distillery, which has primarily produced barrels for the contract market since beginning operations in 2021.

Leadership from Kentucky Bourbon Veterans

The distillery is led by Master Distiller Craig Beam, a seventh-generation distiller and longtime Heaven Hill veteran who was recently inducted into the Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame. He is joined by Assistant Master Distiller Terry Ballard, formerly of Willett. Together, they oversee JPD’s production, which has surpassed 100,000 barrels since launch.

Distilling in the Jackson Purchase Region

JPD sources much of its grain from local farmers in the historic Jackson Purchase region and utilizes calcium-rich water from underground aquifers. Beam highlighted the microclimate along the Mississippi River Valley, noting its impact on bourbon aging: “With the average temperature here being 4-5 degrees higher than the rest of the state, we can’t believe how quickly our whiskey has taken on a deep color and rich flavor. At four years old, I’d put Jackson Purchase Bourbon up against most 8-10 year old bourbons on the market.”

First Release Details

The inaugural release features a mash bill of 70% corn, 20% rye, and 10% malted barley. The bourbon aged four years in new white oak barrels with a #4 char, entered at 120 proof, and is bottled at 117.8 proof. According to early tasting notes, flavors include cinnamon spice, vanilla, caramel, oak, and hints of banana.

Limited Availability at Kentucky Bourbon Festival

Jackson Purchase Bourbon “Batch No. 1 – Full Proof” will be available starting September 5th at the Kentucky Bourbon Festival in Bardstown, where Beam and Ballard will be on hand to sign bottles. Retail distribution in select Kentucky outlets will follow, with a suggested retail price of $59. CEO Lloyd Jones stated, “By offering a limited number of bottles on the retail market, we’re giving bourbon drinkers a rare opportunity to taste for themselves what we can do.”
