Limited Edition Father’s Day Release Combines Two Exotic Oak Finishes.

Texas-based Koopers Whiskey is expanding its portfolio with one of its most ambitious releases to date. The new Father’s Office Cigar Blend Straight Bourbon Whiskey combines finishing techniques using both Brazilian Amburana and Japanese Mizunara oak, creating a limited-edition bourbon designed for slow sipping and cigar pairings.

Available beginning June 13, 2026, the release arrives just ahead of Father’s Day and will be limited to only 378 bottles.

A Bourbon Built for Conversation

According to Koopers Whiskey founder and Master Blender Troy Kooper, Father’s Office was created as a whiskey meant to be shared and savored.

“Father’s Office, like a cigar, is made for sharing,” said Kooper. “It’s about slowing down, spending meaningful time with someone who matters to you, and appreciating the evolving layers of flavor through deep conversation.”

The bourbon was distilled in Indiana before being further aged and blended in Texas. After eight years of maturation, including six years in the Texas climate, the whiskey underwent a dual finishing process utilizing Brazilian Amburana and Japanese Mizunara oak staves.

Dual Oak Finishing Creates Complex Flavor Profile

The finishing regimen consists of:

  • Brazilian Amburana oak staves for seven weeks
  • Japanese Mizunara oak staves for twelve weeks

Amburana oak has become increasingly popular among American whiskey producers for its distinctive cinnamon, baking spice, and dessert-like characteristics. Mizunara oak, a rare Japanese oak traditionally associated with Japanese whisky production, contributes notes of sandalwood, exotic spice, and unique oak complexity.

Together, the two finishes are intended to complement rather than overwhelm the underlying bourbon.
