Old Forester® has announced the national release of its President’s Choice, previously available only at the Old Forester Distillery in Louisville, Kentucky. This marks the first time that both the President’s Choice Bourbon and a new President’s Choice Rye will be available at select retailers nationwide, though in limited quantities.
Historic Roots and Modern Craftsmanship
President’s Choice is inspired by a 1964 offering of private single barrels initiated by former Old Forester president George Garvin Brown II. These modern iterations are selected from matured barrels that meet specific quality and flavor criteria. “President’s Choice has always been an incredibly rare and cherished bottle, and most consumers have never seen it, let alone tasted the whisky,” said Master Taster Melissa Rift.
Limited Release Event at Old Forester Distillery
To commemorate the national expansion, Old Forester will host a release event starting at 10 a.m. ET on Saturday, June 14. A limited number of bottles will be available for in-person purchase at the Louisville distillery and through the brand’s online store (shop.oldforester.com), with shipping permitted to select states: D.C., Kentucky, Nebraska, New Hampshire, and North Dakota.
Introduction of President’s Choice Rye
This year introduces the first-ever release of President’s Choice Rye alongside the bourbon. Assistant Master Distiller Caleb Trigo emphasized the individuality of each barrel: “Every barrel selected for President’s Choice tells a story. These are the barrels that showcase an extraordinary depth of character.”
Barrel Details and Pricing
Each single barrel of President’s Choice is aged between 7 to 9 years and bottled at proof points between 110 and 125, chosen to highlight their unique flavor profiles. The bourbon and rye expressions both carry a suggested retail price of $225.
