The James B. Beam Distilling Co. has announced the launch of Old Grand-Dad 114 Single Barrel 7-Year, the newest addition to the historic Old Grand-Dad bourbon portfolio. The annual release builds on the brand’s established high-rye bourbon profile while introducing a single barrel format designed to highlight barrel-to-barrel variation.
New Annual Release Builds on Old Grand-Dad Legacy
First bottled in 1882, Old Grand-Dad has maintained a longtime following among bartenders and bourbon enthusiasts, particularly for its high-rye mashbill and higher-proof expressions. According to the company, the new 114 Single Barrel 7-Year release was developed to offer a more limited and nuanced extension of the OGD 114 lineup.
Each annual release will be produced from individually selected barrels and bottled at 114 proof. The bourbon is intended to preserve the spice-forward character, structure, and full-bodied flavor profile associated with Old Grand-Dad 114 while allowing the unique characteristics of individual barrels to come through.
High-Rye Bourbon Bottled at 114 Proof
The Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey features a reported flavor profile that includes deep copper coloring, aromas of caramel and vanilla, and palate notes of sweet toffee and charred oak. The finish is described as warm and velvety.
The company stated that the new expression is aimed at consumers seeking higher-proof bourbons with a pronounced rye influence and collectible appeal tied to the single barrel format.
Pricing and Availability Details
Old Grand-Dad 114 Single Barrel 7-Year will carry a suggested retail price of $49.99. The release is positioned as an annual offering within the Old Grand-Dad portfolio and expands the brand’s presence in the premium yet accessible high-proof bourbon category.
