Orphan Barrel Whiskey Co. is introducing Latverian Cask, a limited-release 20-year-old American Light Whiskey inspired by Marvel Studios’ upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday. The once-only release marks the first American Light Whiskey from Orphan Barrel and brings together a rare collection of barrels that matured for at least two decades before being selected for the project. The film is scheduled to arrive in theaters December 18, 2026.

20-Year-Old American Light Whiskey Aged in Used Oak

Named after Latveria, the fictional nation ruled by Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday, the whiskey was made from a predominantly corn mashbill and distilled in Indiana. It matured primarily in Kentucky, with some barrels aged in Indiana, for a minimum of 20 years. The whiskey rested mainly in previously used bourbon and rye barrels, along with multiuse barrels that previously held batch Light Whiskey and other American whiskies. The use of previously used and uncharred oak helped develop depth and richness while retaining the softer character associated with the Light Whiskey category.

“Part of what makes working on Orphan Barrel so exciting is coming across whiskies that have developed in ways you might not expect,” said Andrew Mackay, Master Blender US Whiskey at Diageo. “When we discovered this 20-Year-Old Light Whiskey, what stood out was how much character it had developed over two decades while still retaining the softer profile that defines the category. At this age, you’re working with something finite that simply can’t be recreated once it’s gone, which is exactly the kind of remarkable liquid we want to bring forward through the Orphan Barrel project.”

Latverian Cask Features Marvel Artist Label and Rare Holographic Bottles

The bottle features an original label illustration by Marvel artist Rod Reis, drawing on the visual world of Doctor Doom and Latveria. Reis said the design incorporates details intended to reward collectors who take a closer look.

“There’s so much to pull from visually with Doctor Doom and Latveria,” said Reis. “I wanted everything to work together as one image at first, but then reward people who spend some time looking at it and start noticing those smaller references.”

Adding another collectible element, one in every six bottles will feature a holographic label treatment, creating a rarer variation within the limited release.

Tasting Notes, Proof and Availability

Bottled at 92 proof (46% ABV), Latverian Cask opens with aromas of caramel and sweet vanilla. The palate features honey, butterscotch, orange peel and oak, followed by a warm finish of creamy vanilla and dried fruit. Orphan Barrel describes the whiskey as mellow and soft despite its age, with richness developed through more than two decades of maturation. The brand recommends enjoying it neat or with a small ice cube.

Latverian Cask will be available beginning November 1, 2026, at select retailers nationwide, through TheBar.com and at Stitzel-Weller Distillery in Shively, Kentucky. The suggested retail price is $200 per bottle. As a strictly limited, once-only release, the whiskey joins Orphan Barrel’s collection of unusual and rare American whiskey releases.
