Night Sage is the 5th Release in the Orphan Barrel Collection.

Orphan Barrel has announced the release of Night Sage, a 25-Year-Old Blended Canadian Whisky that marks the 25th limited-edition expression in the collection. The release continues the brand’s mission of identifying and bottling rare whiskies from long-aged stocks within Diageo’s inventory. Night Sage is available as a single-batch release, with a suggested retail price of $225 per 750ml bottle through select retailers, TheBar.com, and ReserveBar.com.

Aged 25 Years Across Multiple Canadian Whisky Regions

Night Sage is the second blended Canadian whisky released under the Orphan Barrel label. The whisky was distilled in Ontario and Manitoba and matured for 25 years in a combination of first-dump oak barrels, which had previously held Canadian whisky once, and multi-use barrels that also previously contained Canadian whisky. According to the brand, the maturation approach contributes to the whisky’s layered and complex character.

Inspired by Patience and Wisdom

The packaging features artwork centered around a snow owl, a symbol the brand associates with patience, wisdom, and the passage of time. The imagery reflects the philosophy behind the Orphan Barrel project, which focuses on allowing mature whiskies to develop over extended periods before release.

“Night Sage reflects the guiding principle of the Orphan Barrel project: a fundamental respect for time and the patience to allow whiskies to mature under careful supervision until they are at their peak,” said Mark Balkenende, Master Blender Canada at Diageo. “After 25 years in seasoned oak, this whisky reveals remarkable depth, layered richness and an elegant finish that rewards slow appreciation.”

Tasting Notes and Availability

According to tasting notes provided by the brand, Night Sage opens with aromas of butterscotch, vanilla, and toasted oak. The palate delivers flavors of brown sugar, golden toffee, walnut, and fig, while the finish is described as warm and lingering with notes of dried fruit, vanilla, and oak. Orphan Barrel recommends enjoying the whisky neat or over a single large ice cube to fully appreciate its character.

Night Sage is available now nationwide in limited quantities, continuing Orphan Barrel’s tradition of one-time-only releases that will not be reproduced once inventory is depleted.
