PaPaw’s Ridge, a new whiskey brand from Shelbyville, Kentucky, has announced the release of its debut expression, PaPaw’s Ridge Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. Founded by the Nethery family, the brand pays tribute to their patriarch, Roy “PaPaw” Nethery, a lifelong Shelby County farmer. The bourbon is available now in Florida, with wider U.S. distribution set to begin in early 2026.

Honoring a Family Legacy

PaPaw’s Ridge takes its name from the Nethery family’s farmland, which has been in their family since the 1800s. The ridge referenced in the name was a favorite gathering spot for Roy Nethery, who inspired the creation of the brand. Autumn Nethery, Co-Owner & VP of Operations, stated:

“PaPaw’s Ridge is more than just a bourbon brand, it’s a tribute to the man who taught us that the best moments in life don’t need much more than good company and a glass of something honest. We crafted this whiskey with that same spirit – simple, high-quality, and made to be shared. Every pour is a toast to our PaPaw’s stories, laughter, and the legacy he left behind.”

Production and Tasting Notes

The new bourbon is crafted from a mash bill of yellow corn, rye, and barley, and is aged for a minimum of four years. Bottled at 43% ABV (86 proof), PaPaw’s Ridge Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey displays a golden honey amber color. Official tasting notes describe aromas of dark chocolate bourbon balls, butterscotch, and baked apple crumble with a touch of campfire smoke. The palate features flavors of butterscotch, caramel apple, and fig, followed by a smooth finish with vanilla bean.

Pricing and Availability

PaPaw’s Ridge Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey (SRP: $39.99) became available on August 19, 2025. Distribution in Florida includes Publix retail locations, with online sales launching shortly thereafter.

Distillery Background

PaPaw’s Ridge is produced at Rut N’ Strut Distillery, the team behind Jeptha Creed bourbons. The Shelbyville-based distillery emphasizes farm-to-bottle production, growing its own corn, fruits, and grains on family farmland to support its portfolio of spirits.
